HOW TO APPLY FIEBING'S PRO DYE


After cleaning the surface of the leather using a de-glazer, apply the dye with a wool dauber or a soft cloth. Use a circular motion to ensure an even coverage. To finish off, use a Resolene to seal the leather. We recommend testing the leather dye on a scrap piece of leather first as all leathers take dye differently with variations between different types of leather and tannage for example.

If you require a premium dye for leather, Fiebing’s Pro Dye offers more vivid colours and is less likely to fade over time.

FAQs

Can I mix the dyes? 

Yes, but make sure you take note of the ratio's so you can recreate the colour again.

How do I lighten the colour of my leather dye? 

To lighten any colour, you may use Fiebing’s Dye Reducer.This will dilute both Fiebing’s Leather Dye and Fiebing’s Pro Dye.

How do I seal my leather? 

Before sealing the leather make sure to remove any leather dye on the surface that has not soaked through by buffing the surface with a dry, soft cloth.
Apply a Resolene with a damp, fine cell sponge. This will decrease the likelihood of creating bubbles on the surface, also known as “fish eyes” once the dye has dried.
Top Tip Always stir the resolene before using DO NOT shake as this will create bubbles.

 Why is Pro Dye formerly named Oil Dye?

It's the same product as always, it just has a new name.
It is a solvent based dye, always has been, so we wanted to reduce confusion by changing the name.
The oil refers to the oils in the dyes and colourants that create the colours, but the base of the dye is a solvent like standard leather dye.
These dyes tend to be more vibrant in colour and more colour-fast and resistant to fading.
