Making an exhibition of yourself – jumping on the bandwagon of events
Many events are returning to in-person, but even if you aren’t quite ready to attend yourself, there are still plenty of ways in which you and your business can jump on the bandwagon of these to generate new business, without even taking a stand. The same goes for tapping into the popularity of national and international awareness days, to further expand the awareness of your brand and product offering to a wider audience who may not otherwise have discovered your business.
Do your research
What live events are coming up which are relevant to your business? Or what national/international awareness days are on the horizon? By understanding when and what an exhibition is, you can ensure that the show is relevant to your business offering, or that the awareness day aligns with your brand ethos, to ensure you maintain your business’ integrity whilst promoting your wares.Pop it in the diary
Create a social calendar of events, such as on an Excel spreadsheet, so you never miss an important exhibition or awareness day. This can be adapted and used year-on-year, saving you work in the long run – although it is always worth checking the dates don’t change! Setting reminders on your phone or computer calendar can help remind you to get prepared for these ahead of time.Sharing is caring
Create social media or website content in advance in a Word document, such as posts on how your brand aligns to the awareness cause, so you’re not caught out being too busy to write your messages from scratch on the day. Share these posts with the correct exhibition or awareness day hashtag, so that you don’t miss out on the valuable brand exposure from others being able to discover your brand when seeing other posts with the same hashtag. You might also want to consider using a social management tool such as Hootsuite or Buffer. This will help you to plan and schedule your content across your social media outlets.Get promoting
Does your business make dog collars? Showcase more photos of these on your social media profiles during Crufts. Or if you make equestrian tack, make sure you don’t miss the chance to showcase your talented work with photos online during BETA international. If your workforce is solely or mainly women, celebrate them for International Women’s Day, or highlight the fact you source your goods from UK suppliers during World Environment Day. The possibilities for product promotion are endless when it comes to events or awareness days which can be connected to your business in some way.
What’s the deal?
Nothing entices a buyer more than a good deal, and how better to generate new and returning custom by hosting a promotional deal during the time an exhibition is on, or for the one day the awareness day falls on. Even just offering 10% across certain products can help to see an uplift in sales, and the more your products are relevant to the exhibition or awareness event, the better. For all your making needs, be sure to take a look at our vast range of materials and tools to help you ensure you and your business are ready to become the main event!
