THE NELSON GAG

The Nelson Running Gag design has the addition of Fixed Cheeks that extend both above and below the bit’s mouthpiece.

These help to keep the mouthpiece central within the mouth and prevent it from being pulled adversely from side to side. They also aid steering and so control of the horse by placing contact upon the horse's face activated by the opposing reins' contact.
HOW WE MEASURE OUR NELSON GAGS

Please note, that we define the cheek of the Nelson Gag from the top to the bottom, as shown in the image. Standard cheeks are 6” long.

Our mouth width is the measurement of the mouth between the ring pieces and not the full length of the mouthpiece.

Remember not to have too tight of a fit. You should always leave a little room on each side for comfort.
