If you’re looking for the best dye for leather, look no further. The world renown Fiebing’s leather dye is a penetrating alcohol-based dye, which will beautifully colour your leather.

WHY USE FIEBING'S LEATHER DYE?


Fiebing’s leather dye is designed to penetrate leather so that it absorbs the colours instead of simply painting the surface. This leather dye mixes easily so you can combine with other colours to create your own unique tones. Make sure to remember the ratios so you can recreate the colour another time!

HOW TO APPLY FIEBING'S LEATHER DYE

After cleaning the surface of the leather using a de-glazer, apply the dye with a wool dauber or a soft cloth. Use a circular motion to ensure an even coverage. To finish off, use a Resolene to seal the leather. We recommend testing the leather dye on a scrap piece of leather first as all leathers take dye differently with variations between different types of leather and tannage for example.

If you require a premium dye for leather, Fiebing’s Pro Dye offers more vivid colours and is less likely to fade over time.

Can I re-dye leather? 

Yes, to re-dye leather you must first ensure that any old dye is removed so that the new dye can penetrate the leather. If any old dye remains the new dye will likely rub off. We recommend using Fiebing’s Deglazer to remove old dye or finish.

How do I lighten the colour of my leather dye? 

To lighten any colour, you may use Fiebing’s Dye Reducer. This will dilute both Fiebing’s Leather Dye and Fiebing’s Pro Dye.

How do I seal my leather? 

Before sealing the leather make sure to remove any leather dye on the surface that has not soaked through by buffing the surface with a dry, soft cloth.

Apply a Resolene with a damp, fine cell sponge. This will decrease the likelihood of creating bubbles on the surface, also known as “fish eyes” once the dye has dried. Do not shake the resolene to avoid creating bubbles.
